MUSIC students from a Newport school wrote and performed an anthem to mark the 5th anniversary of the Wales Millennium Centre.

Year 10 GCSE music students from Hartridge High School composed the music and wrote the words for the song to promote Wales and what it means to be Welsh.

The group of 16 students performed the song at the Wales Millennium Centre (WMC), in Cardiff, on Sunday and are looking forward to recording a CD of the song at the centre’s Ty Cerdd music studios.

The class were invited to write the anthem after impressing staff in music workshops with the Welsh National Opera's community programme.

Grenys Graham-White, head of music at Hartridge, said the project was a successful team building exercise for the students who worked together to produce great results.
