MORE than 1,000 people were in Tredegar Park, Newport, on Saturday, to celebrate one of Wales' fastest-growing communities.
They were treated to a feast of Filipino culture, with dances, singing, a battle of the bands, cuisine and group games for adults and children.
The mini fiesta was the first organised by the Filipino British Association South Wales and celebrated the Phillippines' independence day.
President of the association is Trina Levin-Wynne, who has lived in Monmouthshire village Coed-y-Paen since 1996.
She said: "The Filipino community in South Wales is getting bigger and bigger, with people moving here through marriage, to live with family or to work as things like nurses.
"We hope the event will be three times bigger next year."
The association was formed last October and already has 132 members in South Wales.
As well as giving members and the general public an opportunity to celebrate Filipino culture, Saturday's event also featured stalls hosted by UK-based businesses from the Phillippines.
