Whyteleafe improved their prospects of promotion to the Ryman League Premier Division with a 2-1 win over a strong Braintree Town outfit on Saturday.
Dean Lock caused untold problems for Braintree none more so than when he fired home a superb volley after 32 minutes to put Whyteleafe in front.
But the lead was short lived and Braintree were level four minutes later when they scored from a corner.
After the break Whyteleafe took control and Lock and Scott went close for the home side.
The winner came after 74 minutes a free kick from Stuart Massey.
Matt Martin made some fine saves in the Whyteleafe goal to make sure of the victory.
In the Premier League, Dulwich Hamlet's mini-revival came to a halt against top-of-the-table Farnborough Town.
Despite home advantage, Hamlet were no match for Town, losing 2-0.
Dulwich were never in control of the game and once again their player manager Les Cleevely was having to work overtime in goal.
But he could do little to prevent the opening goal after 20 minutes when Laker headed home at the back post.
Dulwich tried in vain to get back into the match but the killer blow came just after half time when Laker scored his second header.
Dulwich's Carl Bartley headed against the crossbar near the end.
Carshalton's victory leaves Hamlet with a mountain to climb to escape relegation.
In Division Three Croydon Athletic had an impressive 4-1 home victory over Kingsbury Town.
John Fowler scored a hat trick and a goal from Jamie Evans sealed a comfortable victory.
Croydon FC manager Ken Jarvie fancied his side's chances of lifting the Surrey Senior Cup after last season's narrow defeat by Woking in the final.
And they took a 2-0 lead over Crystal Palace's second string through Peter Garland and Eben Allen.
But a young, determined Palace side had other ideas and rattled in three late goals.
