FOUR Monmouthshire pubs are recommended in the latest edition of the Michelin Eating Out in Pubs guide - with two being named as inspectors’ favourites.

The Hardwick at Abergavenny, The Foxhunter at Nant-y-Derry, The Bell at Skenfrith and The Raglan Arms at Llandenny are all included in the 2011 guide which names more than 500 pubs which have met the standards of the Michelin inspectors in regards to their food, drink and entertainment.

The Hardwick and The Bell are named as favourites in the guide.

Owners and staff at the pubs said they were pleased to be included in the latest edition.

Owner and chef of The Hardwick, Stephen Terry said: “We are absolutely delighted to be named in the guide for the fourth year.

“It is always nice to be recognised in the trade by the guides.”

Giles Cunliffe, director at the Raglan Arms, which has featured in the guide for the past two years said: “Our pub is in the middle of nowhere so we base a lot of our business on providing good food and pride ourselves on it.”

Amy Wassell, assistant manager at The Bell at Skenfrith said: “We are very pleased to be in the guide again and find it very important to provide good meals.”

Lisa Tebbutt, who co-owns The Foxhunter with husband Matt said: “We have been in the guide for the past five years so we are very pleased to be in it again.”
