A DUCK whose wing was badly damaged in an attack has become something of a "local celebrity" according to a worker at a Rogerstone visitor attraction.
Assistant manager at the Fourteen Locks Canal Centre Colin Westacott found the bird outside the building, with its feathers sticking out and part of his wing missing.
He informed the RSPCA and an officer visited the bird several times, who said it was most likely the injury was caused by a fox.
But now, six months on, 'One wing' as he is affectionately called by staff at the centre, is enjoying life on the Rogerstone lake.
Mr Westacott said numerous people have informed him that the bird appears to be injured and walkers have inundated the centre with offers of help to look after the animal.
He said: "One couple came up to me and said 'now we know he's here we will come up and feed him'. He's quite fat and well looked after actually."
Every morning, staff at the centre feed the resident ducks bread.
