GOLF captains at a Chepstow club pledged to raise £10,000 for the Argus-backed Sparkle Appeal yesterday.
Saint Pierre Golf Club captain Alan Beech and ladies captain Sue Thomas picked the Sparkle Appeal as their chosen charity for their year as captains and have set their target at £10,000.
Mr Beech said: "Both myself and the ladies captain wanted to pick a charity that we both had an interest in. We both have children who are healthy and we wanted to do something to support a children's charity. We're going to be doing lots of different fundraising events through the club."
Mrs Thomas said: "We're setting ourselves a target of £10,000 for the year. We wanted to support Sparkle as it's a local charity."
Former Wales International Colin Charvis, who is a patron of the charity, was at the club yesterday, along with appeal director Jon Trigwell.
Mr Trigwell said: "We're thrilled they decided to support us. Colin came down with us to the club to meet everyone and we're looking forward to seeing what they have planned for the year."
The new Serennu Children's Centre will provide a central hub for children and their families, which will save them having to travel hundreds of miles across the country to use the services they need.
Facilities will include a hydrotherapy pool, dark/light therapy room, assessment nursery, consulting gym, quiet rooms and an IT resource library.
