VINTAGE cars owned by the late Lord Raglan will be sold at auction today.

A 1933 Bugatti Type 51 Grand Prix two-seater owned by Fitzroy John Somerset, who died last year, will be sold to the highest bidder at Bonhams' Paris sale of Motor Cars at the Grand Palais on the Champs-Elysées.

Lord Raglan bought the car in 1979, spent two and a half years restoring it and raced it for the next 20 years. It is expected to sell for between £800,000 and £1,150,000.

Also on sale is his 1930 Bugatti Type 46 Cabriolet, with coach work by Figoni, which is estimated to sell for around £200,000.

Lord Raglan was renowned for his love of collectors' motor cars, in particular Bugattis, and in 1998 was elected as only the third Patron of the Bugatti Owners' Club in its 80-year history.

James Knight, group head of Bonhams motoring department, said Lord Raglan would forever be linked to the Bugatti marque and his cars would undoubtedly attract interest from collectors around the world.
