I think it should be a criminal offence for a man to wear a hat while driving a car.
Men wearing hats are invariably the most dangerous drivers on the roads.
Whether they are young men wearing baseball caps or old men wearing trilbys or flat caps they are both likely to do something completely unpredictable at any time on the road.
I guess of the two the baseball cap is the slightly less irksome because at least you only see them for a few seconds before they accelerate away, pushing their worn out Fiestas or Novas to the limit and disappear in a cloud of blue smoke.
The flat cappers and trilbys are likely to remain in your vision for much longer as they are invariably found in front of you in their Volvos in the middle lane of the motorway travelling at 40 miles an hour.
Oh, of course there is one other type of hat wearing menace to road safety - those wearing a uniform cap who park their cars on the hard shoulder then switch on enough flashing lights to cause traffic congestion for miles behind them.
Or have I mentioned this before?
