A TEENAGE boy was found hanged just five weeks after his father was found dead in similar circumstances.

The inquest opened today into the death of 16-year-old Jack Williams, son of Darren Williams, who shot his estranged wife and the boy's mother Rachel Williams at a hairdressers on Maplas Road, Newport on August 19.

Mrs Williams suffered serious leg injuries and spent weeks in hospital following the incident.

Two other people at Carol Ann's hairdressers at the time were also injured.

Following the shooting, a manhunt was launched to find Mr Williams, but he was found dead five hours later hanging in woods at the Coldra, Newport.

The inquest revealed that on September 26, following concern about his wellbeing, the body of Jack Williams was found hanging from a rope in woods at Brynglas, Newport - where his father's ashes have been scattered.

A post mortem was carried out and the results revealed the teen, who had been living in Cwmbran at the time of his death, died as a result of hanging.

Gwent Police are carrying out an investigation into the death, but there are no suspicious circumstances.

Coroner's officer Ken Le Prevost confirmed Jack Williams was the son of 45-year-old Darren Williams who was found dead in similar circumstances recently.

Gwent Coroner David Bowen adjourned the inquest and gave permission for the body to be released for a funeral.
