A CWMBRAN school is celebrating double success after two of its pupils were named competition winners.
Pontnewydd primary pupil, Georgia Day, aged ten, had her short story ‘The New Personality’ chosen as one of the top 100 in a national writing competition.
The competition – run by Scholastic book fairs to celebrate its 21st anniversary – was judged by author of children’s book Horrid Henry Francesca Simon.
To add to the school’s success, year five pupil Joshua Davies, nine, recently won a Cwmbran community council competition to design a Christmas light.
His snowman design will be among the lights on display in the town this Christmas.
Head teacher Kerry Waters said: “We are proud of all our pupils but it is nice to have the diversity of talent in our school recognised.”
