Wow, what a concert. This is the first Chris de Burgh concert I have been to but hope it won't be my last. When the Moonfleet overture began we did not know the splendid night we were in for. Chris appeared on stage and St Davids Hall erupted as everyone clapped and cheered to welcome him. To get this response just by walking on stage must have made him very welcome to Cardiff. Chris and the Band wore smugglers outfits which looked great with the stage set with barrels, ships rigging and a ship broken in half. The light show and video footage was superb. Chris performed some classic favourites Missing you, Ship to Shore, Go where your heart believes.(I was amazed how much emotion Chris put into this song). When he sang Lady in Red you could hear a pin drop as he made his way around the audience shaking hands and kissing the ladies who were lucky enough to be sat in the aisle seats. Many of the songs he sang were from the Moonfleet and other stories album, which tells the story of 18th Century smuggling, treasure, friendship, love and loss. My favorite from the album being, My heart's surrender. Half way through the second half Chris invited the audience down to the front of the stage where everyone who wanted to could dance to Don't pay the Ferryman and many many more hit songs. All too soon after three amazing hours the concert drew to an end and ever friendly Chris shook hands along the audience in front of the stage then mingled into the crowds before leaving to a rapturous applause and standing ovation..

Chris de Burgh new album Footsteps 2 is due to be released on the 14th October
