POLICE say a man who died following an incident in the Crindau area of Newport this morning is from Merthyr Tydfil.
Officers were called to Blakemore Wholesalers, Agincourt Street, at around 5am.
A Gwent Police spokeswoman said a delivery was being made to a business on Agincourt Street, which involved the movement of heavy gates, and that "an incident occurred" leading to the man's death.
The spokeswoman confirmed the dead man is a 42-year-old from the Merthyr Tydfil area and that his family have been informed.
Police are working with the Health and Safety Executive and Newport Council's health and safety department to investigate the incident.
