NEW membership of a Monmouthshire hunt has doubled in the last year.
Despite the fox hunting ban, around 25 people joined the Curre and Llangibby hunt in 2010, which means overall membership now stands at more than 50.
The group meets twice a week at various locations in the south of the county, trail hunting within the law.
The hunt’s honorary treasurer, Major John Carter, said many young people have joined, and he believes one of the main draws is people have the chance to enjoy some spectacular countryside, either on horseback or following the riders.
As well as trail hunting, the group also raise thousands of pounds for charity.
At Monday’s meeting, a cheque for £3,307 was presented to the founder of Horses Help Heroes, the equestrian charity which supports Help for Heroes.
Maj Carter said more than £6,600 was raised overall from the charity auction, with half going to the hunt.
