RESIDENTS in Monmouthshire can find out about the council’s plan to upgrade street lighting and dim them during the night at a series of roadshows.

The council looks after 9,500 streetlights in the county which stay on all night and cost £420,000 a year to run.

To make them more efficient dimming equipment will be installed to reduce the energy used between 10pm and 6am.

A series of roadshows will take place in January to explain the changes.

They take place in Fairfield Car Park, Abergavenny on January 6 and again on January 9.

Then at Raglan Police Station car park on January 11 and outside Shire Hall Monmouth on January 12.

The last roadshow takes place by Monmouth’s ancient bridge on January 13.
