AN 11-YEAR-OLD boy was airlifted to hospital yesterday after falling while walking on the Sugar Loaf mountain, near Abergavenny.
The youngster suffered serious cuts and a possible fractured leg after falling onto a rock in deep ferns.
The Wales Air Ambulance and 14 members of the Longtown mountain rescue team were called to St Mary’s Vale and the boy was flown to Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny.
Members of the mountain rescue team had to carry the boy to the waiting helicopter nearby as it was unable to land due to the steep ground.
