A NEWPORT slimming club is celebrating after losing more than 60 stones between them as part of a festive challenge.

Around 60 members of the Ringland Slimming World group took part in the ‘Countdown to Christmas’ challenge with many losing more than a stone over 12 weeks.

The challenge started in October when the members had an early festive healthy party before embarking on the challenge which saw them lose 60st 10lb between them.

Included in those was Lisa Savage, 41, of Ringland who lost 18- and-a-half pounds during the challenge meaning that during the past 13 months she has lost five-and-a-half stones.

This was by changing her diet from one of bacon sandwiches, chocolate and takeaways to one full of fruit, salad and healthy evening meals.

She said: “I’ve dropped from a dress size 24-26 to a dress size 14. I have more confidence and my health has greatly improved.

“The support I’ve had from the group is fantastic.”

Rebecca Tudball, 27, of Ringland, lost 13lbs during the challenge making her overall weight loss 1st 12lb since August.

After changing her diet and taking up exercise, Mrs Tudball has dropped from 12st 4lb to 10st 6lb and from a dress size 14 to a dress size 10-12.

Mrs Tudball, who is married to Craig and has two children Callum, six and Hollie, three said: “Slimming down is the best present I could have given myself.”

The Ringland Slimming Club is held every Monday from 5pm until 7pm at the Ringland Labour Club.
