ENVIRONMENT Agency Wales is monitoring river levels closely over the next few days and into the Bank Holiday as unsettled weather has been forecast by the Met Office.
The unsettled weather will bring persistent heavy rain and some strong winds at times, especially to high ground in Gwent.
With the ground already heavily saturated, any rainfall could cause rivers to rise and cause flooding of low lying land and some roads.
This may lead to some flood alerts being issued if rivers reach trigger levels.
The Agency advised people to listen to local weather and traffic reports and updates on the radio or TV, or if able to, view the latest information on the Met Office website.
Care should also be taken as driving conditions may be hazardous, and people should listen to traffic reports for advice and for any disruption locally.
