A NEW survey has placed this Newport street the most expensive in Gwent.

A survey by Lloyds TSB says that Glasllwch Lane, in Glasllwch, is the ninth most expensive in Wales.

According to the survey, the average house price of properties sold between January 2007 and October 2011 came to £485,000.

Four of the top ten streets are located in Cardiff, with the average house price in the most-expensive street, the capital’s Druidstone Road, coming in at £685,000.

Residents told the Argus that the street, with its secluded rural feel and views into the Ebbw Valley and the Bristol Channel, is a wonderful place to live.

Dad-of-three and hair salon owner Richard Kent, 42, said the lane has a rural feel: “It’s like living in the countryside.”

“But for work, it’s easy for town and for Cardiff.

Newport is only a couple of minutes by car.”

Resident Dianna Bodington said the lane was a “lovely place to live” and added: “We’ve raised our three children here. It’s been a great place to bring up the kids.

Glasllwch Primary School is behind us and is fantastic.”

John Merrett, 72, who also lives on the road, said he wasn’t surprised by the bank’s claim: “It’s secluded, it’s quiet, it’s very convenient for the motorway and for town.”

Lloyds TSB said it included only streets where there had been at least seven house sales between January 2007 and October 2011.

In the Welsh top ten, there are four streets in Cardiff, two in Swansea, two in Conwy and one in Cowbridge.

Themost expensive streets in the whole of England and Wales are in London, the bank said.
