NEWPORT’S Celtic Manor Resort wants to extend the use of its 2010 Ryder Cup practice area to accommodate different kinds of events.
The resort has applied to Newport City Council to vary its premises licence under the Licensing Act 2003.
The resort wants to extend the use of the Ryder Cup practice area to include food and drink exhibitions, and not just sporting events.
These would be open to the public to attend.
It would still operate within the condition that it can only hold three events each year on this area, with each event lasting no more than two days.
The Resort also wants to lift the condition regarding car parking and access to the 2010 Ryder Cup practice ground via Caerleon.
This would be to allow some of the traffic for the events to be directed through Caerleon.
It has proposals for splitting the volume of traffic for events between the Resort and the Caerleon access routes.
This would happen for at least one but no more than three events per year.
