GWENT had its first real taste of winter yesterday as the first significant snowfall of the season turned parts of the Valleys white.
Evie Gadd, three, of Cwmbran, pictured above, made the most of it by building a snowman. Up to four inches of snow fell in Tredegar while residents in Blaenavon woke to an inch of snow with temperatures struggling to get above 3ºC all day.
Met Office Wales warned the cold weather is likely to continue for the rest of the week, but more snow is unlikely. It issued a warning for today about icy patches, particularly on untreated roads, with a maximum temperature of three degrees.
