IT WILL be an emotional production of Oliver! at a Newport school this week as pupils stage their final show before moving to a new school building.

Around 80 pupils from Hartridge High School are involved in the school production of the much-loved musical Oliver! which started last night.

Local primary schools have been invited to watch the show tomorrow night.

Pupils from across year seven to year 13 are involved either on stage or behind the scenes and have been rehearsing since October.

This will be the last production held at Hartridge High School before pupils move over to the new building.

Work on the new Llanwern High School is expected to be finished in October.

The school’s head of drama, Megan Clarke, said: “They’ve loved it and have been very committed.

“It’s going to be a little emotional but we’re looking forward to using the new facilities at Llanwern.”

Tickets are still available for the performances tonight and on Friday and are available from the school on 01633 412487.
