VETERANS preparing to take part in Newport's Remembrance Day parade say they have been ignored over plans to move the city's D-Day memorial from its city centre site.
The move is planned as part of the city centre redevelopment.
Mr Frederick Lewis of Duffryn, Newport, 89 who fought in the 2nd battalion, the South Wales Borderers on D-Day in June, 1944 said: "It's been kept top secret.
"They are going to take the memorial from John Frost Square and put it goodness knows where. "
Newport City Council maintained that no decision had been made about the removal but agreed that a June date was likely.
"The Royal British Legion will be consulted when we receive the proposals" a spokesman said.
