FAMILY and friends of a man who died in a crash near Newport continued to pay tribute to him yesterday.

Michael Harvey, 33, from Underwood, died when his green Renault Megane crashed on the A467 between Rogerstone and Bassaleg on Saturday afternoon.

Heartfelt tributes for the young father were left on the Argus’ Facebook page yesterday.

Rachel Bennett said: “RIP Baby brother you are gonna be sorely missed xxxx.”

Becky Harvey wrote: “Sleep tight my big brother u will never be forgotten ur memory lives on in katelyn xxxxxxxxx.”

Russell Jones described Mr Harvey as a good friend, saying: “OMG RIP Mike. I can’t believe it m8. U were a good friend. What a shock. Thinking of all the family at this sad time.

Sleep tight m8.”

Emma Tucker was another to leave a message, which read simply: “Thinking of you all shine down brightly Mike xx.”

Days before Saturday’s tragedy, on Valentine’s Day, Mr Harvey used his Facebook page to speak lovingly of his wife Julie, telling friends he was looking forward to spending that evening with her.

Julie, daughter Kate and stepson Ashley issued their tribute to him on Monday.

Anyone with information about the accident should call Gwent Police on 101.
