CATWALK glamour came to a Newport school last night as pupils and staff showed off their creations at an annual charity fashion show.
The event, at Rougemont School, was a showcase for the talents and hard work of pupils in years seven to 12, and an opportunity to raise money for the children’s hospice Ty Hafan, a cause selected by the young organisers themselves.
“A group of girls from Year 12 run the fashion show, but there’s involvement from Year Seven up, and the boys got a chance too,”
said art teacher Louise Parr.
“The girls have made their own clothes, inspired by Lady Gaga, and there was a staff style challenge involving making a headpiece inspired by nature.”
Pupils also showed off clothes provided by a number of major stores, and an auction and a raffle added to the fundraising effort.
“We don’t know how much we’ve raised yet, but it’s a great cause,” said Miss Parr.
“The show is very popular too. We can only get 200 people in the hall so we sold out very quickly.”
