THE campaign to get every home in Wales fitted with a carbon monoxide detector was brought up in a National Assembly debate.
Anne Mitchell has been campaigning for the change since her daughter Alex died from carbon monoxide poisoning when a flueless gas fire was wrongly fitted at their Cwmbran home.
Tomorrow Scott Lee Stuart of Waltwood Drive, Llanmartin, who fitted the fire, was due to be sentenced after pleading guilty to Alex's manslaughter.
Jocelyn Davies, Plaid Cymru AM for South East Wales, raised in the Assembly the issue of getting a carbon monoxide detector into every home in the debating chamber on Wednesday.
Speaking after the session, she said: "I was pleased to have the opportunity of raising this important issue regarding carbon monoxide detectors.
"There have been several tragic deaths caused by carbon monoxide poisoning which might been averted if detectors had been in place in the houses affected."
