POLICE operation launched tonight to tackle anti-social behaviour at train stations.

British Transport Police are laying on "high-visibility" uniformed patrols on stations and in trains as part of a "zero tolerance approach" to crime according to Acting Inspector James Hartson.

The operation was launched at Cwmbran railway station.

Inspector Hartson said: "Cwmbran is the first of many locations. We will be rolling out the operation right across the network in South Wales and Gwent, where we will be saturating an area or a route with uniformed police officers, community support officers and plain clothes officers."
