A NEWPORT gas fitted who admitted the manslaughter of a teenage girl was jailed for two years today.

Scott Lee Stuart who admitted causing the death of Cwmbran school girl Alex Mitchell at an earlier hearing.

Stuart, 39, from Waltwood Road, Llanmartin, was imprisoned by a judge at Cardiff crown court. He had fitted a flueless gas fire at her Cwmbran home without the proper qualifications.

Alex's mother Anne Mitchell, 51, branded Stuart as the "ultimate rogue trader" who had played "Russian roulette with people's lives".

Fairwater High School student Alex died at her home in Pentre Close, Coed Eva, on March 25 last year.
