A CWMBRAN 100-year-old, whose grandson trained Prince William to fly light aircraft in the RAF, celebrated the milestone amongst family and friends.
Muriel Evans turned 100 on March 8 and was treated to a party attended by 50 guests at her Croesyceiliog home on Saturday.
The great-grandmother to Toby, two and Annabelle, nine months, still lives in the bungalow where she has spent the past 60 years.
Mrs Evans was born in Abertillery before she and her family moved to Penhow aged seven.
She left school aged 14 and after a number jobs went to work in an armaments factory in the Second World War.
She married her late husband Philip in 1945 and the couple moved to Llantarnam and then Croesyceiliog where they raised their daughter Elizabeth Brooker, 65.
A keen gardener and pianist, Mrs Evans inspired her family’s love of music, and taking up tapestry in her 80s and writing her memoirs in her 90s.
