VIEWS on creating new train stations at Crumlin and Pye Corner, Bassaleg are being canvassed.

Caerphilly council, Newport council, the South East Wales Transport Alliance (SEWTA), the Welsh Government, Network Rail and Arriva Trains Wales are asking local residents for their views on proposals.

Exhibitions will be held at Crumlin Community Centre on March 19 and Rogerstone and Bassaleg Social Club, Tregwilym Road, Rogerstone on March 21, both between 10am and 7.30pm.

The exhibitions will have further information on the proposals and large-scale plans of the proposed stations, as well as staff from Capita Symonds to discuss the proposals.

Leaflets describing the proposals are also available from Crumlin Community Education Centre, Crumlin Post Office, Oakdale Post Office, Swffryd Post Office, Graig Community Centre, Rivermead Community Centre, Rogerstone Library and Thornbury Post Office.

At both sites the station facilities comprise a passenger waiting shelter, seating, information point, real-time passenger information, cycle parking and a car park covered by CCTV.

The stations would be served by the current Ebbw Vale - Cardiff direct services as well as the proposed Ebbw Vale - Newport Service.
