A NEWPORT AM raised hundreds of pounds for charity after he cycled the length of Wales.
John Griffiths, Newport East AM and the Welsh environment minister, went on a fundraising four-day cycle ride across the country, travelling 285 miles from Holyhead to Cardiff to encourage others to get on their bikes.
Mr Griffiths told the Argus that he has now raised £400 for the Assembly’s two chosen charities for the year, the Alzheimer’s Society and Tools for Self-Reliance Cymru.
The money will be split between the two after the ride.
He said: “It was great and it was fantastic to see so much of Wales’ lovely scenery.
“It is undoubtedly a beautiful country. It was very hard work, Wales is not a flat country and we had a lot of mountains to go over, but it was enjoyable none the less.”
