THE ROOF of a church near Chepstow will be repaired with the help of £10,490 of funding.
St Peter's Church, which is based next to St Pierre Marriott Country Hotel and Golf Club, secured the money through the Heritage Lottery Fund and grants from a number of other organisations including the All Churches Trust and the Garfield Weston Foundation.
Several fundraising events have also added to the total.
The church is thought to date from Saxon times and it has been well-used over the years, including in the inaugural church service of the 2010 Ryder Cup.
Jennifer Stewart, head of HLF Wales, said: "Wales' many churches are an important part of our shared heritage and are strongly associated with the local identity of the towns and villages they serve. We are thrilled that this project has been awarded a first-round pass."
