A RIVER search for a missing Chepstow man due to stand trial and believed to have fallen into the River Wye has stopped.

Rikki Baldwin, pictured, 24, of Sedbury, was facing trial next week for wounding another man – but the trial was postponed yesterday.

Meanwhile a Facebook group calling for help in finding Mr B a l d w i n h a s attracted more than 6,000 members.

M r B a l d w i n went missing in the e a r l y hours of Monday morning with a search operation beginning at 12.45am.

It is believed he fell from the A48 road bridge between Sedbury and Chepstow.

Gloucestershire Police said the Severn Area Rescue Association did not conduct any searches on Tuesday and was, as of yesterday, monitoring the area.

He added inquiries were continuing and CCTV footage from the Aura nightclub in Chepstow, where he was believed to be until 12.30am on Monday morning, had been studied.

Mr Baldwin, of Beachley Road, stands accused of affray, wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and having an offensive weapon.

A mention hearing has been set for May 3 so the judge can be updated with any news about Mr Baldwin’s whereabouts.
