WITH around 100 days left until the start of the London Olympics, an Ebbw Vale artist has started the celebrations off early with some edible creations.

Nathan Wyburn has amazed audiences with his portraits of celebrities such as Lord Alan Sugar and Simon Cowell, but this time he toasted three British Olympians.

The artist, who has appeared on Britain’s Got Talent and S4C, has produced portraits of Tom Daley, Fatima Whitbread and Steve Redgrave using toast and Marmite.

The work was produced for an art exhibition at Bournemouth Arts College and was called Toast to British Olympians.

Tom Daley praised Mr Wyburn’s work on Twitter, saying: “That’s awesome.”

Some of the artist’s work has recently been shown on news sites in China, France and Germany, and he is currently working on material for his university degree, which he finishes this summer.

He said: “I’m in my last two months, which is very scary but I have a few new ideas and new materials to work with, such as newspaper cutouts and recycling.”

Some of Mr Wyburn’s work will now be shown in Gwent in July as part of an exhibition at Bedwellty House and Park
