A TEAM of 15 Newport businessmen will clock up more than 400 miles for charity in a cycle challenge from Paris to Cardiff next month.

The cyclists, who work at businesses such as Bluegg Creative and MCL Logistics, have taken up the challenge in a bid to raise £30,000 for St David’s Foundation Hospice Care and Argus-backed children’s charity the Sparkle Appeal.

The team will travel an average of 80 miles a day over five days before crossing the finish line on May 16.

On the last day they will embark on their final stretch from Hungerford to Cardiff city centre.

The team will be helped on the 401 mile ride by trained physiotherapist Peter Cumpstone, who will be travelling with the cyclists to provide treatment and help with injuries.

Mike Jordan, director of Newport-based design agency Bluegg Creative, said: “The 401 mile cycle is not going to be easy, but we are training around the clock in preparation.

Many of us have cycled from Anglesley to Cardiff last summer so we have an idea of what to expect. We are all looking forward to reaching the finish line and hopefully celebrating the large amount of money raised.”
