HUNDREDS of people have been showing their support for little Luca Williams, who lost his legs to septicaemia, with donations totalling more than £13,000.

The three year old, was struck down by meningococcal septicaemia in January and lost all of the tissue and skin below his hips, as well as suffering severe damage to his knees.

Since his Newport-born parents launched the 'Raise Your Hands for Luca' campaign, around £13,668 has been donated through fundraising website, Just Giving, by more than 700 who have been touched by Luca's story.

Celebrities such as Richard Jones from the Stereophonics, members of the Wales rugby team and pop star Pixie Lott have shown their support posing for pictures with "For Luca" written on their hands.

Pill Harriers under 12s dedicated their win at the Penallta festival of rugby last week to Luca and also posed for a photo with their hands raised.

The campaign also aims to raise £1.5million to help fund special prosthetics for Luca which will be replaced as he grows up, which are not available through the NHS.
