KITTED out in hard hats and hi-visibility jackets, Caldicot pupils had a glimpse this week of what their new school will look like.

The children were given a tour of Dewstow Primary School on Monday, which they will move into on September 1.

The £7 million school, which was named by the pupils themselves, replaces West End Infants and Green Lane Juniors.

The school is being built on the site of the former Green Lane Junior School, which was demolished in 2010.

Pupils from Green Lane are being taught at West End Infants while contractors Wilmott Dixon, who started work on the new school last August, are on site The new school, which will house 210 pupils, is part of Monmouthshire council’s plans to create all-through primary schools.

Dewstow Primary will have a learning plaza, with a separate area for the 60-place nursery.
