THE Blaenavon World Heritage Site Volunteer Rangers group is looking for new helpers.
The group has been growing steadily since November 2011, thanks to funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and other partners.
Volunteers Jeff and Marilyn Townsend have been involved in a range of activities including reed planting, controlled burning for heather moorland management and installing signposts.
Jeff is now learning dry stone walling so he can also help repair important walls in the area, and the pair will be leading a guided walk on July 14 to show visitors Wetlands of the World Heritage Site.
To date, the gift of time from all the volunteer rangers has clocked up 3,365 hours. Newroles are developing and the Forgotten Landscapes Project is now looking for friendly volunteers to welcome visitors at various locations over the summer.
A workshop for anyone interested will be held on Friday, June 22, from 10am to 12.30pm at the Blaenavon World Heritage Centre.
