THE first urban music festival in Abergavenny planned for this summer has been postponed.

Tynchy Stryder, rapper and songwriter Chip, formerly known as Chipmunk and Grime artist Skepta were among the headlining acts due to perform at the Breakin’ Out Festival in Bailey Park on June 16.

Organisers behind the event say it is with ‘regret but much excitement’ that they are postponing the festival until September when it can hold a bigger and better festival with a ‘headlining mainstream artist’ joining the line-up.

The Breakin’ Out website issued a statement to ticket holders giving the newdate of September 8.

Organisers say the decision was taken following an opportunity to bring another headlining, mainstream artist to join an impressive line-up.

Spokeswoman Sharon Lewis said: “Although we are not in a position to announce this artist we feel we could not turn down the opportunity to bring them to Monmouthshire to perform for our young people.

“We are currently in negotiations with their management for the artist to slot this performance in between their busy recording and filming schedule.”

Tickets already bought are valid to gain entry into the festival for the new date.

Other performers signed up for the festival include Abyss Dance Crew, Charlotte Rene and X Factor contestant Rachel Hylton.

Organisers say the alcoholfree festival will provide a safe and secure environment for young people to listen to the acts, both national and local, performing on three stages as well as workshops and other attractions.
