VISITORS can find out more about a charity’s work to protect species-rich grassland in Monmouthshire at an open day this month.
Gwent Wildlife Trust (GWT) recently received funding from Biffa Award for the Pentwyn Meadows project, at Pentwyn Farm, near Monmouth, which will help restore older hedgerows for rare dormice that live in them.
GWT is hosting a National Gardens Scheme open day at the farm on June 10.
Guided walks will showcase the reserve’s orchids, butterflies and the nearby Wyeswood Common, home to the Trust’s flock of rare Hebridean and Hill Radnor lambs. The full address is Pentwyn Farm, Penallt, near Monmouth, NP25 4SE for anyone wishing to attend between 10am and 4pm. Entry is £3.
