FOUR Welsh sporting legends have added their names to the guest list for a charity dinner in Newport.

Undefeated World Champion boxer and local Newbridge hero Joe Calzaghe will be attending the Gareth Thomas Foundation for Music and Sport charity dinner with his girlfriend Strictly Come Dancing star Kristina Rihanoff.

They are the latest names to sign up for the event which will be held at the Celtic Manor Resort on July 14.

Joining them will be Welsh rugby stars Shane Williams, Martyn Williams and Tom Shanklin.

The event has been organised to raise money for the foundation, based in Newport, which aims to help disadvantaged youngsters have access to music tuition and sport coaching and more than 2,000 youngsters have already benefited from the charity's work.

It was set up by its president Gareth 'Alfie' Thomas and Newport businessmen Daniel O'Connell and Clayton Richards.

Mr Thomas said: "I am so pleased that Joe, Kristina and my rugby mates are coming to support this special evening.

"They are all passionate about what they do and understand the difference sport and music can make to a young person's life."

Other guests already confirmed for the evening include former Eastenders stars Natalie Cassidy, Tom Ellis and Tamsin Outhwaite as well as television presenter Gethin Jones and Mr Thomas' Celebrity Big Brother housemates Frankie Cocozza, Nicola McLean, Kirk Norcross and Natasha Giggs.

The event will also feature a performance from a well-known band yet to be named.

The charity's chairman Daniel O'Connell said: "Tickets are selling well but we are hoping to sell out so would urge everyone to take advantage of the opportunity to be at the charity event of the year.

"I am so pleased that the Newport business community has come out in force to support the event and would like to thank everyone who has committed to come so far."

Tickets cost £100 and are available by calling Mr O'Connell on 01633 246179 or at alfiecharitynight.co.uk
