THREE Newport men appeared in court yesterday charged with conspiracy to supply heroin after £200,000 worth of the drug was seized by police.
Gareth Jarvis, 27, of Gaskell Street, Richard Conibeer, 23, of Fernside, Lliswerry Road, and Carl Matthews, 39, of Gaskell Street, all appeared at Caerphilly Magistrates’ Court charged with conspiracy to supply the Class A drug in Newport between July 7 and December 1 last year.
All three defendants spoke only to confirm their names, dates of birth and addresses.
Jarvis is also charged with a second offence of conspiring to supply heroin between January 31 and July 2 last year and with producing cannabis between September 18 and December 1 last year.
Conibeer is charged with being concerned in the production of cannabis between September 19 and November 30 last year.
Chair of the bench Malcolm Evans remanded the three defendants in custody. They are next due to appear at Newport Crown Court on June 21.
