THE tenth open gardens festival takes place in Llanfoist, near Abergavenny at the weekend.
The owners of 14 gardens that will be open to the public have adopted the Olympics and the 200th anniversary of the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal as the theme for this year.
The event, organised by Llanfoist Villlagers Association, will also see the largest gathering of steam boats on the canal ferrying visitors between gardens.
In recognition of the Llanfoist Open Gardens achieving an unbroken ten years of opening the National Garden Scheme has presented Jayne Smith, chairman of this year’s event, with an engraved trowel which will be mounted in the village hall.
The hall will take on a jubilee theme and serve refreshments and sell plants.
The event takes place between 10.30am and 5.30pm on June 17.
A rover ticket costs £5 (children go free) and includes transport between gardens.
All proceeds go to the National Garden Scheme’s sponsored national charities and local organisations.
