CAMPAIGNERS are encouraging people to make their voices heard about concerns over the threat to build 1,200 houses on green space in South Sebastopol.

Torfaen Friends of the Earth is calling on groups and organisations who want to protect the wedge of land which separates Sebastopol and Cwmbran to make sure their views are put forward at the public inquiry which is due to be held early next year.

After Torfaen council refused to grant consent for the Planning application to build on the site, developers announced they would appeal against the decision.

Groups who wish to speak at the inquiry must register their interest in writing to the inspector at The Planning Inspectorate, Crown Buildings, Cathays Park, Cardiff, CF10 3NQ by June 21.

Torfaen Friends of the Earth has been committed to stopping the development of the site and will be represented at the inquiry by a planning consultant.

It is giving other groups and organisations which share the same aim of protecting the land, the chance to be represented by the consultant at the inquiry.

If you would like to be represented by Torfaen Friends of the Earth e-mail the group’s co-odinator Carole Jacob at carole.jacob48flc@ ntlworld.com, by Saturday, June 16. You will need to include the name of your organisation, contact name and details, and quote appeal reference APP/V69 45/A/12/21 7318.
