WALES’ first ever national comic verse competition has attracted more than 60 contestants from across Wales, organisers said.
So far a total of 126 poems have been submitted to the competition, organised by Caerleon Festival.
A shortlist of ten is due to be picked and a final judging competition is to be held at the Priory Hotel on July 8.
Themes range from the after effects of curry, the problems of ageing, women with facial hair and Welsh dragons.
Judges will pick three winners with with prizes of £500, £300 and £150 up for grabs.
The live competition will be judged on humorous content, performance and poetic merit.
The event will take place between 2pm and 4.30pm.
