STAFF at Newport’s Tredegar House are busy putting the final touches to preparations for its housewarming event next week.
The free celebration takes place in the parkland and gardens of the estate on June 24.
It promises to be one of the biggest and best in the South Wales calendar with an array of entertainment, including musicians Liligreen and Maguire, who recently supported Westlife on their Greatest Hits arena tour, as well as dancers, funfair rides, games and food stalls.
Other local performers include Duffryn High School Choir, Newport Borough Brass Band and Blaenavon Male Voice Choir, along with Maindee Judo club and Duffryn Gems and Diamonds dance group.
Winners of 500 special tickets who entered our competition, plus the first 500 National Trust members at the property on the day, will be granted access to the Grade IIListed mansion house.
Those who missed out will get a voucher offering them two-for-one entry to the 16th century house, valid until October 21.
The housewarming is part of the National Trust’s Summer of Celebration, which marks the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and Olympics, as well as a thank you to the people of Newport.
