A NEWPORT teenager who committed a robbery while serving a community order for two counts of sexual assault was sentenced to a 24-month detention and training order.
Yassar Hussain, 17, of Duckpool Road, had earlier pleaded guilty to the robbery of a 13-year-old boy following an incident in John Frost Square in August last year.
Prosecuting at Cardiff Crown Court, David Pugh said Hussain was with another man when he approached the teenager who was with friends demanding the boy’s phone.
Hussain told the boy he had a knife and wasn’t afraid to use it.
No-one at the time saw a knife but the boy handed over his Blackberry mobile phone.
Representing Hussain, David Martin said Hussain had reflected on the incident since and felt sorry for the victim.
Judge Stephen Hopkins QC also revoked the 12-month community order imposed on Hussain in June last year for two counts of sexual assault and sentenced Hussain to a six month detention and training order to be served concurrently.
