A LOST tortoise has been reunited with his family – three weeks after going missing.
Henry, a 90-year-old African spurthigh tortoise, escaped from his owner’s garden in the High Beech area of Chepstow.
Odette Allen said the family were distraught when they discovered he had managed to negotiate two fences and escape.
The mum-of-two frantically put up posters and delivered leaflets to neighbours and messages on Facebook in the hope that someone would find him. She searched the area daily.
“It’s not the first time he has got out,” said Mrs Allen, a school teacher. “He tries to escape when it gets warm.
“On several occasions we have found him close by, in the cemeterykeeper’s garden or in the cemetery.
“He is a part of the family and we were desperately worried about him, especially my son James, three, who helps to care for him.”
