BROADCASTER Bill Turnbull will be creating a buzz in Monmouth next month when he opens a new shop dedicated to bees.
The BBC Breakfast TV presenter, an avid beekeeper, will be in the town on Saturday, July 14, to open the Bees for Development Trust shop in Agincourt Street.
Mr Turnbull, a patron of the trust, will cut the ribbon at 12pm, and give a talk about his hobby at 1pm in the Shire Hall, for which tickets can be purchased from the shop.
He will also sign copies of his book The Bad Beekeepers Club, about the ups and downs or beekeeping.
The shop opening coincides with Monmouth’s first Bee Festival from 12pm- 4pm, taking place in the Shire Hall community room and under the loggia, alongside the usual Saturday market.
It is being organised jointly with adventa, part of Monmouthshire’s rural development programme, and also sees the launch of the Green Book of Gardening in Monmouthshire 2013.
The festival will feature all things bee and honey-related, such as honey tasting, exhibits by bee, plant and environmental organisations and lots of stalls selling related products.
