A DECISION on open cast mining near Pontypool following January's inquiry is yet to be reached.
The eight-day inquiry, which started on January 31 at County Hall, Cwmbran, was triggered after applicant Glamorgan Power Company appealed against Torfaen council's decision to refuse Planning permission for 325,000 tonnes of coal to be extracted from Varteg because of concerns over dust and noise pollution.
Planning inspector Clive Nield heard from representatives on all sides and submitted a report to the Welsh Government's Planning Division.
The decision was due yesterday, June 25, but parties have received letters to tell them that a decision is yet to be reached.
