GWENT schoolchildren will have the chance to get a taste of local history, courtesy of Cadw, the Welsh Government’s historic environment service.

At Blaenavon Ironworks, pupils can take a tour; undertake activities in the Ironworks Company Shop and experience life in a Victorian classroom.

At Caerphilly Castle, pupils will learn about feasting in an Anglo-Norman castle, including medieval manners, and also about who was who in the household of a Welsh Prince at the museum.

At Chepstow castle, pupils will help a castle servant get a chamber ready for a visit from Lady Alicia de Bigod in 1294.
